Nathan Williams sings catchy Simple Plan type melodies over heavily distorted guitars. There’s a Drive-By Truckers production on a song about drinking too much. So surfer bro, man.

But sometimes my job entails sorting 500 songs under the nightcore genre. Yes, nightcore is recognizable today as a real genre, and I know more about it than I’d like to. So every couple of hours or so, I allow Beats 1 Radio to Top 40 me. And guess what: I don’t hit the skip button every fifteen minutes when Zane Lowe plays “Heavy Metal Detox”.
